The Deepings. Woodturners of international repute. They are producers of fine handmade wooden dolls - crafted from Tasmanian timbers. You will find some of the Deepings Dolls at Hartzview - you can also purchase them from Hobart's famous Salamanca Market.


Tahune Air Walk

Tahune Air Walk

The airwalk provides a birds-eye view of the southern forests, the local mountain range and the Tasmanian World Heritage Area. Tahune is just over an hours drive from Hartzview.

Visitors "walk the high wire", suspended up to 45 metres in the air on steel towers barely visible from the ground, with the first stage more than half a kilometre long.

It meanders through the treetops in rainforest at the confluence of two mighty rivers -the Huon and the Picton and one section extends over the meeting of the rivers to create a sense of being suspended above it.


Bruny Island Ferry.

From the picturesque harbour of Kettering - about a ten minute drive from Hartzview - you can take a short vehicular ferry ride to Bruny Island from the picturesque harbour of Kettering. Take in Bruny's scenery (Tasmanians often drop the Island and know this unique and breathtaking island just as "Bruny"). Roaring Forties Kayak

Roaring Forties

Get some exercise and explore the scenic coves of the nearby D'Entrecasteaux Channel. After some basic instruction the group will make the short crossing to Bruny Island by Kayak! Once safely on the other side of the Channel we visit one of Tasmania's many Atlantic Salmon farms before landing on a small island for a lazy lunch. When the afternoon breeze beckons, we commence our return, surfing the small waves back to Kettering. The Roarting Forties sea kayaking facility is about a ten minutes drive from Hartzview.


Australian Antarctic Division

Public visitors are welcome at the Australian Antarctic Division's headquarters at Kingston, Tasmania, which is open from 9.00 am until 5.00 pm on each business day. View artefacts, videos and information on Australia's Antarctic program. The Antarctic Division is a 25 minute drive from Hartzview.
