The Hartzview Homestead, a luxury self contained bed and breakfast, is a reconstruction built in the late Victorian, early federation style, and is enjoyed by honeymoon couples, or families of up to six in the three bedrooms. The Homestead is fully self-contained and guests have "exclusive use" - there is no sharing.
The spacious rooms are tastefully decorated with superb furnishings and selected antiques. Continental Breakfast provisions are included with freshly baked bread and local jams. Dinner is also provided by prior arrangement, as many guests don't want to go out once they arrive at this special haven.Anthea said that Hartzview offers guests olde world ambience, together with modern day comforts. It offers a genuine rural tourism experience where people can really experience the restfulness of a bygone era. Anthea said you can "hear the stillness, smell the freshness of the air, be captivated by the unpolluted beauty of vineyard slopes to the Hartz mountains, and then at night relax in front of the log fire whilst enjoying a glass of fine Tasmanian wine."
Enjoy the not too strenuous bush walks on the property with magnificent views. TV and a DVD with range of videos also supplied. Situated at Gardners Bay (near Cygnet) this rural retreat is a wonderful way to spend a few days unwinding. An ideal base to take day trips to the D'Entrecasteaux Channel, Huon Valley or Bruny Island - where among other attractions you will find the exciting Bruny Island Charters (see our touring links page for more information). The area offers a variety of attractions including woodturners, craft shops, wildlife park, jetboating, trout fishing, caves, wilderness walks, museums, Hartz national park and a seemingly endless panorama of views.
Only ten minutes to the renowned Peppermint Bay restaurant, and close to the Handweaving Studios and the GrandEwe Sheep Cheesery.Meet our friendly animals; Benny (cat), Suzie (dog), George and Pat (cockatoos) and our pet peacock Pierre. For more information on the activities available in the Huon Valley region, please visit our Touring Links page.

Hartzview Guests' Comments
The following are excerpts from the Hartzview guestbook:
"Wonderful six days...most comfortable...excellent facilities"
Robert Baird, NSW (New South Wales), Australia
"Thankyou we love it! The perfect place for our honeymoon. We will return...after sending friend and family your way...and the Blueberry port is excellent!"
Rodney and Jess Westey, Moonee Ponds, Victoria, Australia
"It's to Hartzview we go
when our spirits are low,
and our energy plummets to nil,
as we shrugg off the city,
it seems such a pity
that TIME here just won't stand still"
John and Yvonne Crawford, Cronulla, NSW , Australia
"Here we are again after 7years. William and I came here on our wedding night March 1994. Tonight we have cooked a great roast in the wood fired stove and we are relaxing with our family by the fire. This place is more than comfortable, the views, the garden...just beautiful. Thank you".
Judy Hohman, Mindy and Granma Gert, USA
and Ruth, William & Jackie Hudson, Hobart. Australia.
"The crackling of the open fire, the chirping of the birds, the wagging of a friendly dogs tail, and the smile of a friendly host (Edwina) - this says it all. A short stay in tranquility with some tasty wines - a small taste of contentment".
